Hi Everyone, we are Sue & Terry, we've had this lovely little shop for just over 4 years now. Its been a total family effort from the off with some casual help week days and saturdays. The 1st 2 years was totally unaided from outside of the family. Ourselves, our daughter Becky and son Joe run the shop relentlessly through those early years to get it up and running to the stage that its got to now. Sue is cooking and baking non stop everyday at home to keep supplies plentiful and I'm the errand boy, cook, bottle washer, cashier etc etc. Becky has a Professional career now so has left us That leaves the missus and i to get on with it along with some loyal friends to help us out, many thanks to you all. We are at 106 High Street, Maldon, Essex,CM9 5ET.
This building was built nearly 500 years ago, a lot of the structure was made from old ships timbers from the 16th century, rather than burn them they creatively made timber framed dwellings such as ours, hence the unique character ! The downstairs has three sections, The front shop, The snug area and at the back the Kitchen where everything including taking the money from our happy customers happens. We are unfortunately not sited on top of the waterside as the name suggests,(10min walk to historic quay) this comes from our home address at Bradwell-On-Sea where we had a Tea Garden(waterside Tea Garden) by the marina and views over the Blackwater estuary, taking on the shop the name just followed through albeit 'Rooms' it made things easier on the business front ! We have a fantastic upstairs which we are going to turn into a B&B asap aimed at the professional single person, loving couple or young family. The accommodation will be totally self contained and available all the year round ! (watch this space for availability). Hopefully within the next few weeks we will be licensed to sell alcohol and will be opening at least once a week in the evening to offer something a bit different ! We will post the dates etc when available. We are now licenced and can sell ALCOHOL, wine by the glass will be available by wed 4th Nov, im just waiting for my official measures to turn up (hopefully by Tues). Next thing on the agenda will be a cheese and wine night, probably on a thursday but this will be confirmed later. Please refer to our new page, Forthcoming Events. |
